The summer exhibition at 4 Kirkgate Burntisland

The group formed as The Friends of Burntisland Heritage has just reached its 1st Birthday. It has been a very eventful and busy year for everyone. The volunteers have manned a very successful summer exhibition where we were able to coax a further 47% of the general public through our doors. As well as the exhibition we have kept the volunteers busy with Bric - a - Brac sales and a Balloon Race.

The balloon race was held on the 17th July, which coincided with the highlight of Burntisland's summer calendar, their Highland Games Day. We released 600 balloons and as well as it being a great fun day we raised much needed funding for the Heritage Trust.

WINNER i.e. OWNER/PURCHASER of the furthest travelled balloon - Mrs. K GRAHAM, Crossgates
FINDER - Mr. & Mrs. Roberts, , Nr. Holywell, Flintshire.
FOUND AT - HALKYN MOUNTAIN, Nr. HOLYWELL

The climax of the year has been the production of the celebrity recipe book "Dishes to Dive For". A lot of hard work has gone into the compilation of this project but the end result has made the entire trauma involved worthwhile. In addition to 190 delicious recipes, the book contains many historic facts relating to Burntisland and has a selection of old postcards of the town. The book ISBN 0 9539353 0 2 is competitively priced at £8.99 plus postage and packing (See Publications).

Every penny raised from the proceeds of the book goes to the Heritage Trust Funds. If you would like to purchase a copy of the book please send a cheque made payable to Burntisland Heritage Trust Friends A/c.
